The Key to Africa’s Future is Female: Introducing Africa’s Online STEM Academy for Women on March 6, 2021

A new beginning, a new chapter and a new door has opened for African women. we have finally met the light at the end of the tunnel. Women’s history is not complete without the advancement of African women. Yielding Accomplished African Women is the vessel that will unleash socio-economic possibilities for African women on the continent. On March 6, 2021 Yielding Accomplished African Women (Yaa W.) is launching Africa’s largest digital ecosystem and academy for African women in STEM.

Yielding Accomplished African Women (Yaa W) has been dedicated to educating and empowering African women in STEM. They started by emboldening over 2500 African women in a little over 2 years of existence. Creating pioneering events such as the first ever Women in Machine Learning conference in Africa, establishing professional STEM sorority chapters across 12 universities in Africa, and hosting recruitment and training events. Their ecosystem is the largest community of African female leaders in finance, machine learning/AI and software engineering.

The uniqueness of Yaa W’s model lies in the infusion of the “essence of Africa”, “digital skills” and “intersectionality” built into the fabric of the organization. The online academy will allow for more African women to tap into a support system, STEM courses, professional development masterclasses, and on-demand virtual content, individualized mentorship programs mostly for the paid members. For a limited time, African women across the continent can sign up and enjoy a free trial at: bit.ly/joinYaaW

African women will have access to a unique blend of programs including digital sisterhood meetups, full courses led by STEM experts from Google to Cornell University, career development masterclasses. The academy creates sisterhood space for women from the north, east, west and southern regions of Africa including the digital sisterhood meetups, channels (Book Club, Finance Society, Developers’ Corner, Opportunities Galore) just to mention a few.

To kick off this historic moment, Simidele Adeagbo, the first Black woman to compete in skeleton at the Winter Olympics will be providing inspiration and wisdom.

Simidele is widely known as an Olympian and history maker. With 15 years leading marketing campaigns at Nike Inc., and her contagious energy and insightful storytelling, she speaks on stages around the world, teaching audiences the power they have as change makers.
